This will be a beginners workshop. I’ll be covering guitar rhythm, talking about how to add flavor to your guitar playing through walks, run and fun chords, and giving some jam tips.

Mandolin Workshop

– with Josh Goforth.

The mandolin is a highly versatile instrument in the old time band both as a groove and melody maker. This class will focus equally on both rhythmic and melodic tools that will help you make a meaningful contribution to any jam or band setting. Topics will include foundational technique and fretboard knowledge so all skill levels are welcome.

“Kansas Headphones” Style Old-Time Backup Guitar.
Isaiah (ably assisted by Orion Spencer-Speirer) will teach the double guitar back-up style dubbed “the Kansas Headphones.” This style was used by guitarists Glen Woolaway and Eldon Ray in their back-up of Tricia Spencer’s mentor, fiddler Amos Chase.

Howard will teach archaic tunes from Texas and Oklahoma. This repertoire workshop will focus on learning the tunes by playing them at a moderate pace. Bring a recording device. All instruments are welcome.

Orions guide on how to shred the banjolele (banjo-uke) in a beginner to intermediate sort of way. Learn banjo-ukulele (one instrument) strums, rhythms, cords, and bar cords. Bring a ukulele or banjo-ukulele. Not a banjo class.
